Privacy policy
Effective 27 October 2026. Plain language first; the details follow.
Who we are
Quantization.com ("we", "us") is an independent educational website. For privacy questions or requests, use the contact form and choose "Privacy request".
Information we collect
- Information you send us. When you use a form (newsletter, optimization plan, challenge registration, pledge, job application, advertising or contact) we receive the fields you complete, the page you sent it from and the time.
- Information stored in your browser. We use your browser's local storage to remember your theme and cookie choice. Calculator inputs stay on your device; some tools put settings in the page address so you can share a result.
- Information collected by third parties. Google AdSense, YouTube (only after you press play) and Google Fonts may receive your IP address and browser details when their content loads. Their use of data is governed by their own policies, linked below.
How we use information
- To reply to you and provide what you asked for, such as your optimization plan, newsletter or contest registration.
- To run and improve the site, prevent abuse and keep records required by law.
- To send the newsletter only if you subscribed; every issue contains an unsubscribe option.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share form submissions with advertisers.
Advertising and cookies
We use Google AdSense to show advertising. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this and other sites on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- You can opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info or, in Europe, Your Online Choices.
- Learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
- Choosing "Essential only" in our cookie notice requests non-personalised ads on this site. Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland may also see a consent message from a Google-certified consent platform.
See the cookie policy for a list of the cookies and storage we use.
Service providers
- GitHub Pages hosts the website and may log technical request data (GitHub privacy statement).
- FormSubmit relays form submissions to our inbox (FormSubmit privacy policy).
- Google provides advertising (AdSense), embedded video (YouTube, privacy-enhanced mode) and web fonts (Google privacy policy).
How long we keep information
Messages and requests are kept as long as needed to deal with them and for up to 24 months afterwards. Job applications are kept for up to 12 months. Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe. Records we must keep by law, such as prize payments, are kept for the legally required period.
Your rights
Depending on where you live — for example under the EU and UK GDPR, Canada's PIPEDA and Québec's Law 25, or California's CCPA/CPRA — you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information, to withdraw consent, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Make a request through the contact form. We will respond within the time the law requires and may need to verify your identity. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
International transfers
Our service providers may process information in countries other than yours, including the United States. Where required, they rely on recognised safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
Children
The site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. Contests and job applications are for adults. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
The site is served only over HTTPS. Forms are transmitted encrypted. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so please never send passwords, API keys or payment card numbers through our forms.
Changes to this policy
We will post any changes on this page and update the effective date at the top.
